Welcome to C3 Chandlers

The creation of essential oils can be traced back to cave paintings discovered in the Dordogne region of France dating back 20,000 years. They show the use of medicinal plants and oils created for everyday use. Some often wonder if a Chandler might have been involved in procuring many of the oils plants.

Egyptians used essential oils as far back as 4500 BC. Interestingly enough, despite the wealth of resources around them, the Egyptians never actually distilled their own oils.

China's first use of essential oils was recorded during the reign of Huang Ti, the Yellow Emperor around 2697 BC. India shortly followed suite with the development of aromatic oils roughly 3,000 years ago. Vedic literature of the time included over 700 different substances that were used for all types of essential oils and medicines. In fact, some say that a Chandler once used oils to actually stem the tide of bubonic plague.
